Weekenders

I have more tote bags than I know what to do with– “weekenders” most of them are called. Though I beg to differ, because none of my weekender bags really do much at all in the way of holding all of my possessions for a weekend trip. Maybe I just overpack(?!), but I’m pretty sure it’s that those totes aren’t really built for carrying 2+ outfits, an extra pair of shoes, night clothes, toiletries, jewelry, and so on.

Gosh I sound high-maintenance.

Anywho, I headed home for my dad’s birthday + Mother’s Day last weekend, and it was such a relief to have this new bag to pack with! Meet my Midway Weekender from functional-but-fun bag designer Po Campo. It fit a truly admirable amount of things– I’m talking two pairs of shoes, clothes for three days, my rain jacket, book, plus my obnoxious medicine, jewelry, and cosmetic cases.

These bags were actually designed for bikers– because in 2009, Chicagoans Maria Boustead and her then-business partner, Emily Taylor struggled to find stylish bags that functioned appropriately for their commutes. Man oh man do I wish these has existed back when I studied abroad and went everywhere on my bike!

Have you seen the Kate Spade Saturday Weekender Bags with the shoe compartment on the bottom? Po Campo’s have those too– SO helpful! Extra space and a great way to keep your shoes separate from clothes (gross).

In addition to the weekender, Po Campo also has crossbody bags, handlebar bags, trunk bags, and tons more. Check out this satchel you can attach your yoga mat to!

Full disclosure: I was provided a Midway Weekender for review by Po Campo. All opinions expressed are my own.

The Berkshires

emily dickinson house amherst

A few weeks ago, looking for a little escape from the crowded city, we hopped in the car and took a drive out to Western Mass. After stops in Amherst and Northampton, we ended up in the sweet little town of Stockbridge and stayed at the most welcoming and historic B&B [1862 Seasons on Main]. It was the nicest, most relaxing weekend I’ve had in ages. I love my city life, but when the chance to get away for some peace + quiet arises, I can rarely turn it down.

Wachusett

wachusett brewing company

After a long day skiing at Wachusett Mountain in Princeton, Mass this past Saturday, we couldn’t leave town without a quick stop to the Wachusett Brewery. Wachusett happens to brew my most favorite blueberry beer– I do have rankings for my blueberry beers– and it was so fun to tour the brewery three friends started years ago after leaving their engineering day jobs. New England, you never cease to impress me.

The North Shore

On the east coast of Massachusetts, Boston sits in between the North Shore and the South Shore. I’m a South Shore girl personally, always have been, but last weekend we hopped in the car and traveled north of the city for once, making stops in the towns of Gloucester and Salem. I hate to admit it, but the North’s beauty is undeniable. See for yourself…

This couple is inspiring me to visit more small towns that I’ve shamefully never been to within my own state. My dear Massholes– where do you suggest?

The Hamptons

Sixteen plus hours spent in buses and cars this past weekend was no walk in the park, but was more than worth it for a trip to East Hampton, New York to surprise + celebrate one of my best friend’s birthdays. As much as I love New England in the summer, it was a real treat to take a mini vacation to The Hamptons and enjoy some super soft sand, noticeably warmer ocean water, beach bonfires, and of course drinks + laughter with a group of my best college friends.

Weekend trips like these are what constantly keep my motivation up, especially on Mondays! Do you have any planned for this summer?

Windsor [Tea] Castle

Saturday was spent with my sister having high tea in a seaside town in honor of The Royal Wedding. Windsor Tea Shop is possibly the cutest establishment in New England…

You should probably stop by. I recommend the cucumber tea sandwiches + peach tea.

Happy New Year everyone!!

While I would one day love to brace the crowds and see that glittery ball drop in person, I had a more untraditional New York New Year’s and instead stayed pretty far away from Times Square. But I did have such an incredible time ringing in 2012 with some of my best friends! Here’s a little taste of my night, and as always I’m linking up with a {little} dash of ash for an Instagram Link Party– first of the new year!
