It’s officially sequin season, and for the second year in a row, I’m attempting to wear a little bit of glitter for every day of December leading up until Christmas. If you’d like to join in the fun, tweet + Instagram your sparkly accents with hashtag #25DoS– even if you only do it a couple days, I’d still love to see! Dress Yourself

I’m not sure how exactly to describe my personal style.

It’s a bit preppy, a bit hippie, a bit vintage, and often just downright girly. Sometimes it’s boho and sometimes it’s nautical. But there are certain signature items I think you can always attribute to being very “me.” Bows. Polka dots. Tutus. Anchors. Sequins. Pearls. Example A:

Personal Style

(Boys) Cotton Anchor Sweater, J.Crew, $59.50
Karinska Tulle Skirt, Anthropologie, $188
Bow Hair Clip, American Apparel, $10
This Is The Year To Idiom Bangle, Kate Spade, $58
Make a Day of It Carousel Bangle, Kate Spade, $250

Last Saturday may or may not have been the most perfect fall day in Boston. One of those days when you curse the sun for setting so early, and you have no shame prancing around in a tulle skirt with pearl details out of pure happiness– in this case, one that is attached to an adorable navy sweater that forms to make the most perfect little dress. I found this little gem at Sincerely Sweet Boutique– an online retailer based out of Orange County, CA with an endless supply of feminine, vintage-inspired, and downright sweet fashions and accessories. I also snagged this Peter Pan statement collar and cannot wait to pair it with a number of chunky knits this winter!

Dreaming of Fashion Week

“Every year the women of New York leave the past behind and look forward to the future… this is known as Fashion Week.”
-Carrie Bradshaw

I know I said I didn’t like making seasonal to-do lists, but I do have a life bucket list. On that list, somewhere between live in London and be in a movie, lies a dream to attend New York Fashion Week. And don’t think I haven’t thought about what I’d wear if the opportunity ever came knocking! Tulle and bangles and simple glam a la Carrie Bradshaw of course.

With every summer comes the promise of reminiscing. As the warm months hit, no matter how much time has passed, I can’t help but be transported right back to my weeks traveling Europe. Paris has a particularly special place in my heart, and I’ve been spoiled enough to visit it over two summers in fact. This tulle skirt was my best attempt at blending into the French fashion scene, and I pull it out every now and then when I need a little fun + chic in my life.

Perhaps this isn’t the most patriotic post in honor of America’s birthday week, so je suis désolé!

Are you inspired by fashions from any of your travels?

Tutus on Saturdays

I realized this past weekend that being home, bumming around on a Saturday, is no reason to not wear fun clothes if I’m feeling particularly glitzy. That kind of inspiration comes from my girl Carrie Bradshaw. The woman who cozies up with Big and his takeout while wearing Jimmy Choos and pearls. In case ya didn’t know.

Awkward and Awesome Thursday

White tee, Express
Tutu skirt, H&M
Bow belt, Wet Seal
Flats, Michael Kors
Bracelet, vintage

Awkward:
-Holding an umbrella up for far too long before realizing I’m covered by the bus stop.
-Visiting NYC and of all the millions of people in that city, my friend/hostess and I run into her senior prom date. Who she has not spoken to since that night.
-Did anyone else know that vitamins absolutely must be taken with food? No just me? I learned that one the hard way this week.
-Returning to my college’s online career services page, which I used to stalk daily while in school searching for jobs and internships, only this time as an employer. Am I getting old?

Awesome:
-Once Upon a Time. I’m not saying it’s the best show on television right now. But it has got me intrigued like no other.
-Visits from my very own Prince Charming :)
-Food memoirs and food and Sassy Girl Book Club!
-Finding an old gift card I had won on a giveaway back in the summer and using it to purchase a very lovely party dress.
-A giveaway of my own! Have you entered yet?

Ballerina Fall

Maybe it’s the dancer in me, but I am feeling so inspired by J.Crew’s September catalogue…

Tutus and sweaters? Yes please. Reminds me of my days backstage, covering up our costumes with layers to keep warm in the freezing air conditioning!

Here’s a set I’m looking forward to putting together once the air gets a little cooler. One of J Crew’s classic new Fisherman Sweaters, a tutu skirt from F21 (I’ve also had great luck with these at H&M and Free People), and a little sparkle to show off the ballerina in you… love me some glitter flats any day!

In honor of my dance show this week, here’s a dainty ballerina inspired outfit, featuring a ModCloth tutu, Anthro top, J Crew ballet flats, and Kate Spade jewelry.
