Windsor [Tea] Castle

Saturday was spent with my sister having high tea in a seaside town in honor of The Royal Wedding. Windsor Tea Shop is possibly the cutest establishment in New England…

You should probably stop by. I recommend the cucumber tea sandwiches + peach tea.

Royal Anniversary

Someeebody has a very special first anniversary coming up! And it is far from being yours truly.

I can’t believe it’s been almost a year since I woke up at the ungodly hour of 4 am to watch Kate and Wills tie the knot [tea and scones in hand, mind you]. Since then, Kate Middleton has become my ultimate style icon [see here; here; here; here], so it seemed only appropriate that for today’s Date Night Friday’s Fancies I keep the duchess in mind.

I don’t know what Miss Catherine will be wearing for her anniversary soiree, but I can imagine it would be classic and proper, but with flirty details like lace and peplum, and romantic touches of pale pink…

Lace Peplum Dress by Rare, Topshop, $65
Linen-blend Cropped Jacket, Carven, $340
Return to Tiffany Mini Heart Tag Earrings, Tiffany & Co. $475
Hand in Hand Idiom Bangle, Kate Spade, $58
Pointed Patent Leather Court Shoe, Zara, $80

What do you think she’ll be donning?

Kate’s Royal Lace

I legitimately still get butterflies in my stomach thinking about The Royal Wedding. Even from thousands of miles away and through the tube, it was such a magical event to watch. And Princess Kate is quickly becoming my style icon…!

As you’ve probably heard, The Duchess of Cambridge’s gown and accessories are now on display at Buckingham Palace through October 3. This exhibit is giving us a much closer look at the Alexander McQueen lace shoes from the wedding that were quite difficult to get a good glimpse of under the gown.

So far, it’s pretty clear to see from today’s Tuesday Shoesday look at Zappos that Kate has done it again. The next trend? Lace heels. No wedding needed.

Congratulations to Kate, Wills… and Sarah Burton!

Happy Royal Wedding to you all!

One of the things I was [superficially] most looking forward to about today was seeing Kate’s dress.  We’ve all been anticipating its reveal for months now, and as she arrived at Westminster Abbey this morning, the world got its first full-length glimpse.

Designed by Sarah Burton of British label Alexander McQueen, the lace number was incredibly elegant and simply timeless.  It was tasteful and respectful, but still just a tiny bit sexy with the deep V-neck cut.  Many are comparing it to the style of Grace Kelly.

Grandmother-in-law Queen Elizabeth II even loaned Kate her Cartier tiara for the big day.  The diamond drop earrings by Robinson Pelham were a gift from Kate’s parents.

Sister and Maid of Honor Pippa looked quite lovely herself.  She also donned white– something that is not only not frowned upon in Great Britain, but is actually tradition.  Now I love British traditions, but I still don’t think I’m going to ask my future maid of honor to join me in wearing white on my wedding day!

And how about those hats!  Mother of the Bride, Carole Middeton, in Catherine Walker (also one of Princess Diana’s favorite designers), wore one ever so elegantly:

Watching the wedding on television this morning was truly magical, well worth the early alarm clock!  I wish the newlyweds only the best, and I thank them for allowing all (especially us irritating Americans) to share their day with them.

Royal Wedding is TOMORROW!

I don’t really care that I’m on this side of the pond– I’m drinking tea with scones and dressing for the occasion anyway.  Here are some darling dresses for you to adorn at your own tea parties to commemorate this magical and historical day…

And a little something that made me chuckle…

Kate Middleton Style

I am not the least bit ashamed to admit that I am totally enthralled in the Royal Wedding.  I’ve had a crush on Prince William since about 1997, but I am completely supportive of his relationship with Kate as long as I can follow along with their wedding plans.

I find Kate’s style to be so elegant and flawless– she’ll fit quite perfectly in the royal family, that’s for sure.

In honor of the wedding being just TWO weeks away, here’s my one of my Kate-inspired outfits, thanks to my new favorite online store, ModCloth.  They have such a flair for British style, and it’s so much easier to order from San Francisco than London!  I also included a few outside vendors for the jewelry, and if you can get your hands on that sapphire, then I say there is no reason why you can’t go mixing silver and gold!
