Last month, US Trendy awarded me with the pretty darn fun title of being one of Boston’s 50 Most Fashionable. I feel fortunate to be one of those lucky New England residents who get Columbus Day off from work. I spent this year’s Monday holiday, appropriately yet not intentionally, dressed in rather American colors, walking around a small Massachusetts town and finally having a chance to breathe and appreciate the beauty of early autumn.

Not that the rain ever really stopped here, but I do like waiting for fall to break out my pillar box red Hunter Wellies. Funny how you can get so sick of something in your closet, like riding boots… a camel coat… mittens, and then find a renewed love for them after a few months off!
I’ve been denying Labor Day’s unavoidable and eminent arrival for a while now. (This is why I don’t do seasonal bucket lists– I never get to quite everything I want to!) But Labor Day Weekend is here and I’m heading home to the beach for the first half of it, so might as well embrace it.
Even though my family has only recently joined me in New England, we would spend every August of my childhood in the very same town they live in now, and one of my most vivid memories is how chilly those summer nights on the water could get there! So as we share Dark & Stormys on the Adirondaks as the sun goes down + the sunset canon goes off, and say goodbye to summer this weekend, this would be my ideal outfit.
