Kelly green and navy. Sailboats. Anchors. I really am becoming predictable aren’t I?

I just adore this skirt eShakti sent me for spring. Not only did they fit me to my exact measurements, I was also able to customize the skirt length. I’ve never owned a piece of clothing that flatters my waist like this, plus the buttons are the cutest touch. See here, here, and here for other favorites of mine from their spring line!

Skip n’ Whistle

american apparel jersey scarf

Dress, H&M  [similar 1; 2] // Scarf c/o Skip N’ Whistle // Sneakers, Airwalk w/ my own laces [similar]

Today we’re chatting about the super-soft super-cute Skip N’ Whistle. They sent me this scarf a few weeks ago and I’ve hardly taken it off. The scarves are made of American Apparel knit jersey– have you ever touched that stuff? It’s like a silk sweatshirt, in the best of ways. Everything in the shop, from the tees and tanks to the sweatshirts and messenger bags, are screen printed by hand in New Orleans. And it’s all printed to order– while I chose the anchor, I was also tempted by the octopus, pirate ship, and, obviously, bicycle. Skin N’ Whistle also sells customizable tees, tanks, bags, and tons of other quirky fun items. Next on my list? Definitely a tie between the seahorse tank and octopus sweatshirt…!

Grapefruit Goodness

grapefruit skincare

Believe it or not, I am not a beauty product junkie. I do, from time to time, have my weak moments of spending $12 on nail polish, but other than that, I’m pretty good at only sticking to products I know I love, and especially in drugstores where it’s so easy to rack up a basket full. One of my newest loves? Yes To Grapefruit skincare products. Hello body butter // dark circle correcting cream // towelettes // SPF moisturizer // serum // scrub // and more!

yes to grapefruit

Grapefruit is the newest member of the Yes To family, whose products blend powerful fruit acids with ingredients that help to reduce hyper-pigmentation, correct skin damage, and enhance radiance.

grapefruit body butter

Why grapefruit? I could give you all the science behind it, but all you really need to know is the rich Vitamin C found the the extract is great for enhancing skin radiance and evening skin tone– something I’ve always struggled with. I apply the Dark Spot Correcting Body Cream right after showers, and after only a week my skin is feeling so much softer, and I’m already in the midst of saying goodbye to any lingering dark spots. Plus, I don’t even need to tell you how perfect the citrus smells. Like a tropical getaway in the middle of this dry and bitter winter.

grapefruit towelettes

The best part about all of this? No mail-order. No brand reps. No wandering around department store beauty counters. All Yes To products can be found at stores like Target and Walgreens at drugstore prices that won’t break the bank. You can buy them online here and here, but I just dare you to tell me you’re not within five miles of one of the stores listed here :)

SPF

I’m excited to present a little video I did with Bona Clara (remember my review of their skin care line here?) I got to show off one of my favorite products of theirs– the SPF moisturizer. I’m no vlogger so go easy on me! :)

The SPF 29 sunscreen + moisturizer runs at $40 and is worth every penny– I am SO thrilled to not have to worry about greasy sunscreen all over my face this summer! Click here to shop the SPF that’s right for your age.

Paxton1345

Last week, I received the softest, most adorable pair of boxer shorts, and I have had a hard time taking them off ever since.

Paxton1345 is a new line of boxers for men & women, made in the U.S. of A and designed right here in Boston. Designer and founder Erin Cormier is not a nightgown girl, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t want her nightwear to be flattering! She has taken the comfiness of men’s boxers and tucked//trimmed//folded them down to look great on girls as well. My favorite part? The New England feel and pride behind them– each design is named after a local area, from Nantucket to Newport, Beantown to Brookline.

I can guarantee I’ll be lounging around in these all summer, but until bare legs become a little more bearable, I’ve loved layering them over leggings!

If you’re in the area, I’m sure you’ve already seen the line popping up in local boutiques, but boxers can also be purchased online here for women and here for men (Valentine’s Day anyone??). My only tip: they are very tailored, so if you’re planning on wearing them loose and loungey, I would size up :)

Love your skin. At any age.

bona clara logo

I have a bad habit of taking a lot of things for granted, and one of those things is my skin. In my twenties, I’m out of my adolescent break-out phase, and not yet old enough to have to worry about my skin aging, so I should be in the clear! …Or am I? Thinking about all the late nights I come home and flop into bed without taking off my makeup… all of the carefree summer days I spend lounging in the sun… the stress caused by any twenty-something’s life that is bound to wreck havoc on my skin… now I’m a little more awake and concerned.

Bona Clara is an educational beauty brand whose purpose is to teach women about the changes happening to their skin as they age, and to help that skin age beautifully and healthily. This is not your average infomercial, skin-care-party retailer. They are truly inspiring and their products have left me feeling like I just walked out of a spa.

Bona Clara Skin Care

Whether you’re in your 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s or older, Bona Clara offers products targeted to the skin challenges faced by each age group. Buy the five-step process– Cleanser, Scrub, Toner, Serum, and Treatment Cream– or buy what you feel your face needs most. I am not a product girl {as you can see by this blog’s lacking beauty section!}, but I couldn’t be happier from what I’ve tried in the Stages of Beauty line so far.

Giveaway!

Bona Clara is generously giving away a Cleanser + Scrub duo pack (and I have to admit, these are two of my favorite products in the line). Giveaway ends Friday, January 11th at 12pm EST, so get entering!

LBD

audrey hepburn breakfast at tiffany's

Audrey Hepburn has taught me a lot of things over the years, but one thing that always stands out is the fact that you can never go wrong with a little black dress. eShakti is an online retailer that offers clothes customized to your body, and when they offered to send me a dress of my choice, I couldn’t resist snagging a classic LBD that I knew would be versatile and I could customize to perfectly suit my body. Give them your measurements, adjust the neck, sleeves, and hemline to fit your shape and your taste. How can you go wrong with that?? Bonus: As a limited time offer, eShakti is offering a $25 gift certificate and free customization to new customers on their first order!

Making style a piece of cake

personal shopping service

Last week, I attended a very stylish + informative event at Boston’s Ames Hotel sponsored by quite the fashion-savvy startup. CakeStyle is a personal styling service that delivers clothes and accessories personally picked out just for you right to your door. Think BirchBox, but with dresses. And blouses. And shoes. And accessories. And designed just for your lifestyle.

I know so many women who have jobs that require appropriate and put-together looks every day, and then some. They want to look professional, but stylish as well. And yet their workaholic busy schedules don’t allow time to shop! That’s where CakeStyle comes in– they do the shopping for you.

Keeping your profession, activities, size, and shape in mind, the CakeStyle stylists cater their choices to you as an individual client. With your box, you’ll also receive a video showing you how to wear, style, and mix the pieces. Anything you’re not in love with, you can send back. You pay only for the items you keep, and shipping is free both ways.

cakestyle box

What brands might you find in your CakeStyle box? I’m glad you asked, because that’s one of my favorite parts :) DVF // Milly // Current/Elliot // Shoshanna // Joie // Paige Denim // and so many more. This team knows how to dress today’s woman, with classic pieces that are still on trend.

My other favorite aspect is that you can receive a box as often as you want. Personally, I enjoy spending time shopping for myself every month, and I’m fortunate that my schedule allows me time to do so. But those upcoming summers with 10+ weddings that are about to grace my future? Those terrify me, and a box of cocktail/formal/sundresses picked out just for me for each different wedding location and attire requirement sounds like a dream come true.

For more information, visit CakeStyle.com. You can get 10% off your first box with code BOSTON10– just sign up by December 15!
