Dreaming of Fashion Week

“Every year the women of New York leave the past behind and look forward to the future… this is known as Fashion Week.”
-Carrie Bradshaw

I know I said I didn’t like making seasonal to-do lists, but I do have a life bucket list. On that list, somewhere between live in London and be in a movie, lies a dream to attend New York Fashion Week. And don’t think I haven’t thought about what I’d wear if the opportunity ever came knocking! Tulle and bangles and simple glam a la Carrie Bradshaw of course.

Wedding Wear

One thing I didn’t even realize until I got into my twenties was that there is a very clear and distinct wedding season, and we are right in the midst of it! I already showed off what I’ll be wearing to one wedding this summer, but here’s another dreamy wedding guest look I have in mind, this one for a more formal affair:

Summer Wedding

Bow Monde Dress in Silk Taffeta, J. Crew, $250
Petal to the Metal Clutch, Marc by Marc Jacobs, $238
Knotty Bangle, Lilly Pulitzer, $28
Chunky Chain Cuff, BaubleBar, $24
Sawyer Heels, Kate Spade New York, $328

This is my absolute favorite J. Crew dress… in the history of J. Crew dresses. My friend Natasha wore it to our graduation last May, and they keep bringing it back with more and more colors! Heck if it’s still available by the time some poor soul decides to marry me, you can be sure that my bridesmaids will be wearing it :)

How many weddings will you be dressing up for this season?

Thankful.

Cue typical day-before-Thanksgiving post.

But in all seriousness, I have a lot to be thankful for.

I’ll keep it short and sweet. I feel so lucky everyday for my supportive family, near and far. For my friends, old and new. For CEM II, who can brighten my day in a second.

For dance, for a job I love, for the blogging community. For cakepops, sequins, bows, chai tea lattes, pink, Pinterest, and parades.

Wishing everyone a very happy, safe, and filling Thanksgiving tomorrow. I’ll be back on Monday :)

Sweater, Anthropologie
Jean, Gap

Halloweek

In honor of Halloween in less than a week, I thought today’s Tuesday Shoesday needed a little spirited tint of orange…

Are you all excited for Halloween yet??

Cozy Side of Fall

FINALLY linking up with {av} at long distance loving for a Friday’s Fancies! This week’s theme is the cozy side of fall. Now I haven’t tried this skirt on, but for some reason I just get the feeling that it actually is really comfortable… has anyone tried it IRL and can confirm? If it’s not, oops…

Cozy Side of Fall

Leather Bow Clip, American Apparel, $16
Chain Channel Pullover, Anthropologie, $98
Petal to the Metal Clutch, Marc Jacobs, $278
Sequinned Miniskirt, Zara, $129
Minnetonka Triple Fringe Boot, Urban Outfitters, $90

Either way, I am lusting over it. Any of you seen a version under $130 yet?? Or is a good sequin skirt this season going to be a bank breaker?

And oh man, those MJ Petal to the Metal bags. Still loving them after all this time and still can’t afford them.

I cannot believe today is the first day of fall. I’ve been dreading it for some reason this year (maybe since it’s the first fall I’m not back at school?), but today I’ve decided to embrace it fully. Bring on the pumpkins, cider, costumes, hayrides, and leaves. I’m ready for you now autumn, no turning back.

Take cover…

Samantha needs a new iPhone cover.

Let’s help her out, shall we?  I know literally the first thing I did when I got my iPhone for graduation, even before I got it activated, was run to Lilly Pulitzer for this baby:

Many of these link to the designer’s generic iPhone case, so definitely click the images to see all of the colors and designs available! Most also come in sizes to fit iPhone 3′s and 4′s.

RobinHoodCouture via Etsy, $32

Lilly Pulitzer, $24.95

Juicy Couture, $20

Case-Mate, $48

Kate Spade, $40

Jonathan Adler, $24.95

Marc Jacobs, $38

And my personal favorite (so what if it doesn’t protect much?):

Goat Vinyl via Etsy, $10

Zippity Shoe Da, Zappos… Couture?

Forgive me if I’m totally behind in reporting this, I understand I’m probably the last to realize.

So I knew that Zappos sold a number of luxury-esque brands, Kate Spade, Burberry, even some Jimmy Choos here and there.  But I wasn’t aware until recently that they had a whole separate Zappos Couture website!

I’m not justifying spending $600 on a pair of wedges, but you’ve got to admit they’re fun to lust over, right??

I love you, you, you, you, you, and most definitely you.

Totes Presh

While I can certainly appreciate the value of a good Tory Burch clutch, sometimes I just need something a little more practical and easy on the wallet.  And with summer coming up, I can’t help but get excited about the perfect carryall: oversized tote bags.  Durable, endless pits, they are the best for beach days.  And at these prices, I just can’t resist.  Many of these finds also donate proceeds to charity :)
