Sometimes I forget how lucky I am that I have a world-renowned art museum so easily accessible to me. The MFA is truly one of my happy places. We visited the museum a couple Fridays ago to see the first night of Art in Bloom. For just a few days, the galleries were transformed by 70 floral arrangements, created by garden clubs from all over New England. Each arrangement was inspired by an accompanying masterpiece…
Have you been to Art in Bloom before? Which pieces were your favorites? This is an annual event, so be sure to keep your eyes open for next year’s weekend if you missed this one!
I just discovered this short film made for Kate Spade a couple years ago & felt the need to share. It is simply irresistible :)
this is the story of a charming girl she laughs out loud, sings off key and believes in taking chances she is quick and curious and playful and strong she lets her imagination run away with her she has never been one to stick to convention she is fond of daydreams that take her places she can order a cocktail in six different languages she feels that understated is overrated
From Kate Moss to Kate Middleton, this fashion photographer has captured quite the array of celebrities. His two exhibits, Mario Testino: British Royal Portraits and Mario Testino: In Your Face, are currently gracing the gallery walls of Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts, and frankly, I can’t figure out what took me so long to get there. You all know I love a good royal family portrait, and the provocative In Your Face was nothing short of amazing. Emma Watson, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Gisele? Come on now, it was almost too good to be true.
Kayla attended last month’s premiere and rubbed elbows with quite a few faces you may recognize, including Anna Wintour, Giselle, and a certain Mr. Testino himself. Check out the interview for a glimpse of this glamour before you make your way to the exhibit…
The British Royal Portraits will be on display until June 16, 2013, but the fashion photography will be there only until February 3rd. If you’re close enough, run– don’t walk– to the MFA. And as if you need extra motivation, it’s free Wednesday nights after 4 pm :)
Cupcakes and Cashmere is both the first fashion– and first food– blog that I ever followed. I don’t even know how many years I’ve been reading it, but I do know that I read it every day. Even on those busy mornings when I neglect every other blog in my reader, C&C just begs for me to click on it. It is Emily Shuman’s work that inspired me to start my own fashion blog, that influences how + what I write about on my company’s food blog, and that motivates me to become a better writer, photographer, stylist, cook, baker, and entertainer on a daily basis.
I could not be more excited that her infamous blog is now a book, especially because I’ve been waiting for it to arrive since the day I preordered it about six months ago! Divided into four sections based on the four seasons, Emily shares the same sort of tips that her blog does: how to dress for any occasion, how to organize your closet, how to entertain on a moment’s notice, how to give a flawless at-home manicure, how to find your perfect photograph pose.
I can already tell how quickly this book is going to turn into my go-to guide throughout the year. I’m sure you’ll see me incorporating elements of it on here… maybe we’ll even do a little experiment Julie + Julia style… Emily + Emily?? :)
Cupcakes & Cashmere is now available from Abrams Books and can be purchased [as soon as possible] wherever books are sold!
