I’m So Sari

Dreamcatcher earrings, unknown [similar]

Yesterday I introduced you all to eco-boutique Nancy’s Gone Green at SoWa and Greenway Open Market, and today I’m showing off one of my pretty purchases!

Silly Yeti

I was so drawn to these Silly Yeti dresses, each handmade in Nepal from recycled sari silks. Each dress is one of a kind, so you can imagine how hard it was to pick out just one to purchase (I think I tried on three or four!). The straps are adjustable, and many come with sashes, so they can easily fit many different body types.

Can we also talk about this skirt? Hello pom pom ties! Pretty sure my hippie side would be content living in these fabric for the remainder of the summer.

Remember that even if you aren’t in Boston, you can still order these beauties + others online from Nancy’s Gone Green!

Boston’s EarthFest may be worlds apart from Coachella, but I still saw it as an excuse to rock my inner flower child. And one to celebrate some of the best bands of the 90s! Here’s to the nights we felt alive…

Thanks Blacknight Studios for the photos!

Moral of Floral

Nothing speaks spring to me like florals! This is the season in which the hippie flower child side of my style starts to peek through… when I can’t decide if I’d rather be at the Carolina Cup or Coachella…

Birds of a Feather

I’ll say it: I like the feather hair extension trend.

But if you’re like me, you don’t like getting stuck with permanent accessories you have to match all outfits too, and the idea of crimping a feather into your hair makes you a little nervous…

Luckily, queen of all hipsters Urban Outfitters has some alternatives:

A single earring…

Johnique by The Desert Child Feather Single Earring, $38

A temporary clip…

Double Feather Hair Clip, $19

Or a headband…

Feather Drop Headband, $20

Ugh I so wish I could pull off this look!

Summer of Aquarius

Inspiration for these hippie-chic pieces? My celeb friend Kayla looking oh so flower-childish on the cover of the Boston Phoenix‘s Summer Guide!!

Despite the fact that they were born in the 60s, flowy styles adorned with feathers and flowers never really go out of style in my book– especially not in the hot summer.

Here’s my take on Kayla’s covergirl flair, including AE mocs, Free People crochet top and hair clip, and Lucky Brand stash bag.  Click the set for additional product details.

“The night air is filled with good and bad dreams…”

I feel like I’ve been channeling and catering to the prep in me a ton lately, so here’s something to inspire your inner hippy: dreamcatcher earrings.  I had been looking for a pair forever… finally I found the perfect pendants at a little outdoor jewelry stand on the Boston Common, but unfortunately they were on a necklace.  Luckily, after a little pleading, the attendant took the pendants off the chains and turned them into earrings for me :)

Since then, I feel like I’ve seen them pop up a ton more.  Here’s an Etsy seller, Serenity Jewelry‘s take on them:

Dream Catcher Earrings, Silver with Turquoise, Serenity Jewelry, $8.50

You can see such detail in the weaving– how is she charging less than $10 for these??

I also love them in gold… kinda wishing I had seen these first!

Turquoise and Gold Large Dream Catcher Earrings, Serenity Jewelry, $10

It’s amazing what you can find on Etsy, so glad I stumbled across this one! Be sure to check out her shop for more great finds.
