You Gotta Regatta: A Double OOTD

Kelly and I have been friends since we were eight years old. We’ve always shared a love of Lilly Pulitzer, so I was far from surprised when she showed up for a visit last week sporting the same You Gotta Regatta print in a skirt that I was wearing in a dress. I’m featuring a double outfit post today since the opportunity was just too good to pass up! Hers a little more tailored and sophisticated, mine a little more free and hippie-esque, I think these looks perfectly describe our personalities, and why we’re best friends.

On EmilyTreena Dress, Lilly Pulitzer // Pearls, J Crew // Crossbody purse, Deux Lux [similar shape; similar color] // Starfish cuff, BaubleBar [similar 1; 2] // Green bangle, vintage [similar] // Charm bracelet, Tiffany & Co // Sandals, Charlotte Russe [similar]

On KellyLynnie Skirt, Lilly Pulitzer // Tank, Lilly Pulitzer [similar] // Jewelry, David Yurman // Watch, Juicy Couture [similar] // Navajo Sandals, Jack Rogers

Do your eyes hurt from all of that bright yet?? Be sure to check out this print in the Georgie, Franko, Delia, Lottie, and Camie Dresses, plus the Callahan Shorts!

What a fabulous weekend at rendez-vous new england! Hosted by the lovely ladies AV of Long Distance Loving and Jillian of Cornflake Dreams, this was my first blogger meet-up and I don’t think I could have had more fun! It was wonderful meeting so many new friends, especially ones whose blogs I already follow– so great putting a real-life face to the name! And of course finding new blogs is always a huge highlight for me :)

All in all, it was perfect. Can’t wait to meet up with all of these ladies again! Here are some of the highlights of the events… thank you Instagram for making capturing so easy!

Precious

I’m linking up with a {little} dash of ash again today with another Instagram! Snapped this shot of my adorable mom and godmother having some good old-fashioned girl talk in the backyard. What cuties.

They’ve been friends for about 483764593 years… met while living in the same apartment building and love to remind me how they were so poor they had to share cans of tuna fish for dinner. Hey– it brought them close!

Thanks again for hosting this Ashley! Everyone remember to link up today!

post script: I’m blogging from the commuter rail, how fun is that??

Au Revoir Green Street

Tonight is my last night in my beloved college apartment.  Over the course of two years, we’ve had nine different people call it home, but I was here the full time- no sublettin’ for me! Tomorrow though, it gets packed up and I am out. But since I’m big on reminiscing, here are some of my favorite parts of this place:

And finally the girls who shared this home (well, most of them):

{delayed} weekend recap!

Last weekend was so exciting because I got to spend just about 24 hours with Sam!  It was special and at the same time super sad because this is the last I’m seeing her before she packs her bags and moves cross country to start a new life in LA! It’s been rough watching so many of my best friends head out west to pursue their Hollywood dreams, but at the same time I’m so excited for everything they are about to experience :) And if there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s that GSG is going to stay friends fo’ life.

Here are a couple shots of our waterside weekend!

Miss you already!!

Lockstitch Tee, Anthropologie
White shorts, H&M
Braided belt, vintage
Earrings, Urban Outfitters
Sand dollar necklace, Out of the Blue

There’s not much to this easy summer outfit, but I sure think the bright yellow Adirondack chairs add something to it! So proud of my mom for walking on the wild side (at least for her) and choosing such a bright pop for our outdoor furniture.

I also got up the courage to wear some big earrings other than my pearls and finally changed out my single second hole I have in my right ear for this adorable little bicycle. I mean, you know how much I love them!

Two other notes of business:

For those of you who are already on Bloglovin’, I’m finally just getting around to cleaning up my account and would love to connect over there! Follow my blog with Bloglovin <3

Also, I’d like to introduce you to a very good friend of mine:

James Dean Beauty Queen

Welcome Ariana to the blogosphere!  She and I go way back, to eighth grade actually when she moved to our little Pennsylvania town from Texas! To this day she’s still one of the sweetest gals I know. We’ve been apart at separate colleges for too long now, so I’m very excited that we’re in the midst of planning a trip to meet up in New York City to visit our friend Kelly who just moved there!

Oh, high school...

Isn’t reconnecting with old friends the best?

The Moral of Coral + Other Weekend Things

Happy Monday kittens!

How were your weekends? Mine started off super hectic, as we had lots of visitors at the new house (and Puffy does not let visitors come to a dirty home!), but ended up very relaxing.  On Thursday, the closest thing I’ve ever had to a little sister, Morgan of I Call it Lovely, came up to visit with her mama.  She stayed in the city with me Thursday (I dragged her around apartment shopping and to dance class– what’s family for?), and then we spent the rest of the weekend at my parents’ house on the water.

We went out for seafood Saturday night and I finally got to use the gorgeous coral clutch she got me for my birthday.  I loved how sharp the color looked against my white dress, and that’s what I had been waiting to use it with, but after seeing how Cupcakes and Cashmere paired hers, I know I need to be more adventurous with it.  I figured out that it’s actually hard to find much that doesn’t go well with coral, especially in the summertime!

Having Morgan and her mom in town made me realize again how hard it’s going to be to not have my childhood home to go back to at holidays.  We always have Christmas Eve with their family but now with the move it looks like we have new traditions to start!  But like my mom said to Morgan’s, “those girls will always find their way back to each other.”  And we will– love you sissy :)
