Pick me up at 8

I’m super excited to be participating in a contest with French Connection and Gilt City this week! Participants were asked to come up with a Pinterest board showcasing a look made up of their favorite items from FCUK’s new line, while sticking to a $1000 budget. Everyone is so big on dresses for Valentine’s Day, but I thought it might be fun to pair a sweet pink skirt with a comfier top, and add some crystal jewelry made with Swarvoski elements to keep it dressy. I would LOVE for you to head on over to the contest and vote for my outfit. If your name is selected, you could win this entire look!

Ooh La La

While miss {av} is on a little overseas voyage, we’re doing a Eurotrip Friday’s Fancies in her honor. I’ve still got Parisian details on my mind, and while this look may a bit too over-the-top touristy for France itself, I think it would work just fine from afar.

Lace dress, H&M [similar 1; 2] // Pretty Shiny Sparkly Necklace, Spike the Punch  // Bracelets, Alex & Ani; bfrend // Button ring, vintage Chanel // Shoes, Lower East Side + DIYed
[similar 1; 2; 3]

Apparently all I wear on the blog these days are white dresses. I’ve gotten so much use out of this one (also seen here), but my favorite thing to dress it up with is delicate pink accessories– like this adorable Spike the Punch necklace designed with Pretty Shiny Sparkly!

Sunhats and Sunnies

Aleesa Dress, Lilly Pulitzer [print]
Derby Hat, Marley Lilly
Bracelet, Tiffany & Co.
Sunglasses, H&M
Patent flats, Lacoste [similar]

Summer is practically here and I fully plan on embracing every second of sunshine I can get over the next few months! I’ve been going out of my way just so I can walk along the Boston Harbor and soak up as much sunlight + summer cheer as I can. Long New England winters can do that to ya.

How are you soaking up summer this year?

Royal Anniversary

Someeebody has a very special first anniversary coming up! And it is far from being yours truly.

I can’t believe it’s been almost a year since I woke up at the ungodly hour of 4 am to watch Kate and Wills tie the knot [tea and scones in hand, mind you]. Since then, Kate Middleton has become my ultimate style icon [see here; here; here; here], so it seemed only appropriate that for today’s Date Night Friday’s Fancies I keep the duchess in mind.

I don’t know what Miss Catherine will be wearing for her anniversary soiree, but I can imagine it would be classic and proper, but with flirty details like lace and peplum, and romantic touches of pale pink…

Lace Peplum Dress by Rare, Topshop, $65
Linen-blend Cropped Jacket, Carven, $340
Return to Tiffany Mini Heart Tag Earrings, Tiffany & Co. $475
Hand in Hand Idiom Bangle, Kate Spade, $58
Pointed Patent Leather Court Shoe, Zara, $80

What do you think she’ll be donning?

I’m so pinterested…

I may or may not be a little obsessed with Pinterest. I’m constantly pinning images from all of your adorable blogs, and spending substantial amounts of time going though all of the boards I follow as well. So I love {av}‘s Friday’s Fancies theme today: outfit inspiration. Many of my own OOTDs have in fact come from pin inspiration already! (see here, here, and here).

Here’s one of my favorite pins sitting on my fashion board, and my take on the antiqued pink look:

Wake up and smell the roses

I’ve got a crush… a color crush. On rose.

Can’t get enough of this pretty pink hue lately, so I’m dedicating today’s Friday’s Fancies to it! Perfect color to get in the mood for the big V-Day too, eh?

Rose Dress, Modcloth, $55
Button Stud Earrings, LC Lauren Conrad, $14
Blair Chronograph Watch, Michael Kors, $250

And no, one pair of shoes just wasn’t enough.

What colors are you crushing on lately? Can’t wait to see them all when you link up with {long distance loving}! Have a lovely weekend ladies!

How about I dance the black swan for you?

I am determined to make Halloween as a postgrad just as fun as it was as a kid. That’s why I love this week’s Friday’s Fancies theme: Halloween! I have a not-so-spooky costume already lined up for my weekend festivities, but after watching Black Swan this week, I put together this good vs. evil look in the spirit of the holiday. I could see playing both parts as fun! Assuming I had no costume budget, that is…

[Be the Buyer Sample 845] Dress, ModCloth
Swan Cloud Dress, ModCloth, $200
Kerfield Suede and Mesh Ankle Boots, Jimmy Choo, $975
Lace and Satin Patin Pumps, Valentino, $795
Swan Ring, Guess, $26

Topped with Glamour Headband, ModCloth, $28
Grosgain and Feather Headband,  Tarina Tarantino, $163
Gold Tone Stud Bird Earrings, LC Lauren Conrad, $10
Gothic Bracelet, H&M, $8

Did you like the film? I actually felt like I was going crazy watching it, but at the same time couldn’t take my eyes away!

What are all of your Halloweekend plans?! I’m hoping for some pumpkin carvin’, pumpkin seed eatin’, and seeing if my real costumes actually works out as well as I hope…! Can’t wait for Monday :) :)
