loft prudential

So excited to be recapping such a fun event that I had the pleasure of co-hosting last week! Boston’s LOFT location has just undergone a huge renovation, making it just about the prettiest store in town. On Thursday, Holly and Alana & Amy of Blog Better Boston and I welcomed shoppers to see the beautiful newly-completed shop in the Pru. Couldn’t make it? Take a glimpse around to see it for yourself…!

Eau de Massachusetts

massachusetts fragrance

Last month, I attended the launch of the United Scents of America’s Massachusetts fragrance launch. How fun is this concept? Founders and scent experts Sasha and Samantha have teamed up to bring you the reminiscent smells of some of your favorite states– in a perfume. They use focus groups to create the scents that aim to bring back memories and embody the aura of said the states. Massachusetts is the newest in the line– which already included California, Florida, New Jersey, New York, Texas, and Hawaii. I think they hit it on the head– a little woodsy, a little salt watery, and with an overall sweetness. It really encapsulates an autumn day in my favorite New England state.

The entire line is proudly made in America and can be purchased online, or in select stores in respective states. Purchase your Massachusetts candle or perfume here, or at Shake the Tree in the North End of Boston– 67 Salem Street, Boston MA 02113.

Keds x Madewell

keds party at madewell

Have you all heard the good news? Keds and Madewell have partnered to bring you quite possibly one of the most adorable lines of sneakers ever. Last week, I attended a party at the store to celebrate the launch of the line, which so perfectly fits the Madewell style. The sneaks range in price from $62 to $75– choose from florals, eyelet, dots, and diamonds!

Vogue on My Mind

post cards from vogue

Last week, I attended an event at Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts in which I got to hear Hamish Bowles, International Editor at Large of Vogue, speak about his many years of experience working with fashion photographer Mario Testino, whose work is currently on display at the MFA [see my review of the exhibit here]. Mr. Bowles joined American Vogue in 1992 as a style editor, and it was so interesting to get a glimpse of the magazine over his last 20 years of working there– through his stories and Testino’s photos. What’s more amazing than that though, is the 120+ years of history Vogue has.

vogue postcards gift set

I’ve had such fun browsing through the 100 iconic covers featured in the card set I received around the holidays, Postcards from Vogue. In addition to Mario Testino, the postcards also feature covers done by Annie Leibovitz, Irving Penn, Salvador Dali, and more. You’ll spy many leading ladies from over the years, from Audrey Hepburn and Jackie Kennedy all the way to Lady Gaga. Since the event at the MFA, it’s been even more fascinating looking at the covers from 1992 on, knowing a little more about the styling and photography behind them. My only problem now is finding enough wall space to display them all!

Making style a piece of cake

personal shopping service

Last week, I attended a very stylish + informative event at Boston’s Ames Hotel sponsored by quite the fashion-savvy startup. CakeStyle is a personal styling service that delivers clothes and accessories personally picked out just for you right to your door. Think BirchBox, but with dresses. And blouses. And shoes. And accessories. And designed just for your lifestyle.

I know so many women who have jobs that require appropriate and put-together looks every day, and then some. They want to look professional, but stylish as well. And yet their workaholic busy schedules don’t allow time to shop! That’s where CakeStyle comes in– they do the shopping for you.

Keeping your profession, activities, size, and shape in mind, the CakeStyle stylists cater their choices to you as an individual client. With your box, you’ll also receive a video showing you how to wear, style, and mix the pieces. Anything you’re not in love with, you can send back. You pay only for the items you keep, and shipping is free both ways.

cakestyle box

What brands might you find in your CakeStyle box? I’m glad you asked, because that’s one of my favorite parts :) DVF // Milly // Current/Elliot // Shoshanna // Joie // Paige Denim // and so many more. This team knows how to dress today’s woman, with classic pieces that are still on trend.

My other favorite aspect is that you can receive a box as often as you want. Personally, I enjoy spending time shopping for myself every month, and I’m fortunate that my schedule allows me time to do so. But those upcoming summers with 10+ weddings that are about to grace my future? Those terrify me, and a box of cocktail/formal/sundresses picked out just for me for each different wedding location and attire requirement sounds like a dream come true.

For more information, visit CakeStyle.com. You can get 10% off your first box with code BOSTON10– just sign up by December 15!

HerCampus Presents College Fashion Week

I’m two years out of college. I went to a college fashion show last week. #noshame

HerCampus College Fashion Week

I just missed HerCampus– if this amazing college lifestyle website had been around when I was still in school, I guarantee I would have been first in line trying to write for it. I did have the fun opportunity last week, though, to attend the Boston leg of their College Fashion Week– a fashion show at The Estate featuring student models and read-to-wear fall styles. As if I didn’t want to go back to college enough already, I do even more so now…

September 6th marked Fashion’s Night Out in cities all across the country and all over the world. I was so impressed with Boston’s participation– for only being our second year hosting, the city really went all out. I took on Newbury Street for the night. Shopping, spending, and sipping ensued.
