You guys. I am so excited to introduce you to Hearts.com.

You all probably know by now my love affair with TOMS shoes, and how their one-for-one movement helps children in over 50 countries. Hearts is similar– they work with 2,000 artisans around the world to create eco-friendly fashions and accessories, using low-impact processes to support the environment. They incorporate responsible materials, so they’re taking less from the planet, and positively impacting world issues and supporting people in need.

silvery quartz cuff

Hearts sent me the cuff pictured above (available here for purchase), and I am so smitten with it. Best of all, by wearing it, I’m supporting the Brazilian artisan community, and the quality of life in Rio de Janeiro.

silver bangle bracelets

About the cuff: Each ethically produced cuff is crowned with raw stones while holding value and meaning to the one who wears it. Each piece contributes to the quality of life in Rio de Janeiro. Colorless and transparent, Quartz is the greatest of all healing stones while also aiding in relaxation and visualization.

About the artisan: In Brazil, where raw materials are considered precious treasures, artisans are often paid less than the full value for their labor. This artisan community guarantees Fair Trade practices to their creators, and they work tirelessly with them to improve the artisans’ education. Protecting fair wages helps ensure that the artisans can support themselves and their families with their learned skill, to which they devote many years of practice. This family of artisans streamlines their profits back into their communities through donations to an organization that grants health care and schooling to disadvantaged Brazilian children. Due to Brazil’s immense size and vast rural areas, boosting access to education is a high priority and Hearts is proud to help contribute to a brighter future.

In addition to my cuff, I’m loving this bright Guatemala City Crossbody, Bolivia Beanie, nautical iPad sleeve, and anchor necklace.

On Jewelry

Sweater, Target [similar] // Sequined Migration Mini, Anthropologie (now on super sale!) // Watch, c/o GUESS // Bracelets, Skiler Love; Glitterboxjewelry; vintage charm bracelet // Belt, J.Crew // Pearls, J.Crew // Boots, Lauren Ralph Lauren [similar]

This may or may not sound superficial, but I find it amazing how significant jewelry can be to an individual. What may look like a standard stack of bracelets to one person can hold so much more meaning to another. Like what I’m wearing here. A GUESS watch, that reminds me how thankful I am for the opportunity to represent + write for them. A bangle from Skiler Love, because I love supporting local, aspiring designers. A charm bracelet dated back to 1965 that belonged to my grandmother, so I can have a little piece of her with me everyday. A handcrafted bracelet from an Etsy designer, as I believe in honoring handmade and small businesses.

Do you have special reasons as to why you pick out certain pieces of jewelry and clothing everyday? I’d love to hear!

Chiffon + Wraps

Necklace, via Savas Studios
Wrap bracelets, Presh via Savas StudiosBelt, J Crew
Pumps, Steve Madden [similar]

My new obsession? Wrap bracelets.

These come from Presh by way of Savas Studios. Designer Nicole Apostoli launched the collection in 2001, and since then they have been featured on celebrities everywhere. These are also the bracelets worn by the models every year in Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Edition! I ain’t no celeb, and I’m sure as heck not a swimsuit model, but I sure did feel lucky trying a few of these on :)

Savas Studios is one of the few locations in Boston to sell these, so all the more reason to make a stop over there– they’re also offering 15% off your purchase if you mention so anthro. Don’t forget to enter the giveaway as well!

New Jewel(s)

Happy Thursday cuties! I need to share with you the sweetest new jewelry I’ve found online lately…

After seeing this post from Glitter & Pearls, I became obsessed with finding a starfish cuff to finish off summer with. I love this one from Anthropologie but it’s oh, you know, only 200 wallet-burnin’ bucks. But then I saw this post from stripes & sequins and found one I liked even more at BaubleBar!

This has got to be my new favorite online jewelry retailer. Not only are the prices way fair, but the package also arrived with a hand-written note from owners Amy and Daniella! Now really, how often do you see that anymore? Will definitely be buying from them again- if not for their jewelry for their amazing customer service! (But definitely for their jewelry…)

I’m also in love with my new rosette necklace from Etsy member the sweet shoppe:

I’ve been at Etsy fan forever, but usually I just browse. This summer was the first time I ever purchased anything. The last two products I bought from Etsy sellers took forever to arrive, but my necklace arrived so quickly and I couldn’t be happier with it! Plus, Suzy is offering a deluxe set right now: choose any ring, necklace, and earrings for $35! You can’t beat that, so please take advantage of it for me!

Do you have any online jewelry retailers you always turn to? Or any other good Etsy shops to recommend?

Catbird

In honor of heading to LA to see my boyfriend this weekend, I thought it was about time I dedicated a post to Catbird…

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
A Brooklyn-based jewelry and accessories store, Catbird has some of the most beautiful and original pieces I have ever seen.  Charlie is the one who discovered it (major props), and he got me the most delicate gold and brass locket there last Christmas…

See it? Small photo, but you get the picture!

The coolest thing about this boutique is that they get their jewelry from all over the world.  My locket came from Paris(!) before it made its way to the Williamsburg store.  However, they also sell work by many local designers which I love and respect.  Catbird jewelry comes in a range of prices and are able to point out many gifts that run for under $100.

If you’re not in the NYC area, you can certainly shop via their online store. And right now their signature tote comes free with any purchase over $100!

While there isn’t an item I dislike in their catalogue, here are a few of the pieces currently on my wishlist!
