Free People on the Red Carpet

Last night marked the 70th annual Golden Globes, and you better believe I was live streaming coverage as the evening went on! While some snuff at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s awards ceremony, as it isn’t quite the Oscars, I’m always almost more curious to see what will grace the Red Carpet on this night. Some play it safe and boring, some use it as an outlet to take bigger risks, but there is always the fair share of questionable hairstyles, more-karats-than-I’ll-ever-know 77 Diamonds, and James Bond-esque dress slits.

One dress that stood out to me, between all of the Chanel and Dior, was that of Quentin Tarentino’s date, who ~~supposedly wore Free People~~ (UPDATE: It was in fact a Mara Hoffman gown for Free People!). At this point, she’s still being reported as “guest,” and when you’re a no-namer, Karl may not be knocking on your door with countless offers to wear one of his creations. I thought an FP gown was a smart and stylish move on her part, and brings up the idea of making a statement in less-than-couture…

I love that his date wore Free People. That’s amazing. It’s so much easier to relate to! And those dresses are seriously gorgeous; if I were a no-namer on the Red Carpet, I’d totes do something like that.
